My Week of Firsts

I keep going to the range because of the growth I feel as I develop different shooting skills.  But some days I want that little something extra. Luckily, I live in Georgia and go to a range, where I can rent almost any gun I could possibly want to try.  So you can imagine my excitement when, a few weeks ago I looked in the rental case and  right on top, was a brand new addition... The big bad Desert Eagle!  For anyone unfamiliar, this is one of those weapons with a "reputation".

We have all seen:

(I am posting this video for illustration purposes. However, I can not condone this husband's callous attitude toward his wife's shooting education)
Some other places you might notice the Desert Eagle:

When I spotted the Desert Eagle and inquired the response was, "it's not so bad," but a comment like that, from a range employee, former cop, and firearms instructor, must be taken with a grain of salt.  I will not mislead you.  I did shoot the Desert Eagle this week, but not a 50 caliber like the fabulous, Stephanie Hayden handled like a pro on "Sons of Guns" a few weeks ago.  No, I had the opportunity to shoot a Desert Eagle chambered for the 44 magnum round. (A round that once over powered & scared me when shot it from a mid-sized revolver.) The hardest parts of shooting the Desert Eagle?  - Pulling back & locking the slide - Holding up something so heavy for more than 10 shots - The raised eyebrows from other range goers who expect to see a chick like me go flying (I do have one nasty "bite" on my thumb from the huge slide cycling back. Fortunately, I'd asked a knowledgeable friend to join me that day and he became my "hero" when he dressed my wound... with duct tape) Did you think I was going to complain about recoil?  Sorry to disappoint, but a gun so heavy actually has less felt recoil.
But this week's adventures did not end there. I had no idea that on Wednesday I would experience "Full Auto".  That's right, I was lucky enough to shoot the HK MP5 fully automatic.  People keep asking me if I "loved it?" and I can definitely say, it was a wild ride. However, I'm not sure I need to do it again any time soon.
To top off my week of firsts, I enjoyed introducing three women to the fun that is "range time".
Chasity Amanda Mila
This many blondes had the guys at the range pretty flustered, but all three handled their weapons like professionals. One even claimed an instant addiction to my CZ.

Thanks D! I'm glad I brought a pro, but it's not as bad as all the hype.

Nice job! Nice trigger discipline - you waited until fully ready to shoot. Not many folks do that. And the MP5?? So - "did you love it??" :)

Thank you sir! There will be no accidents on my watch.
And as for the MP5, its a rush, but I enjoy shooting accurately over shooting aggressively.
