Speed Loader

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos I have two other posts in the works, but if you don't know about Maglula, you will thank me for making this post a priority. The Uplula Speed Loader is honestly, the most fantastic piece of equipment in my range bag. Unlike other speed loaders, Maglula has developed a line of products that are truly brand universal. I own the pistol speed loader made for 9mm to .45 caliber ammo. I've shared it with Glock, Sig & S&W M&P friends, not to mention heavy use with my CZ. No one has found a flaw with this Israeli designed & made product. It seems to be made of steel and heavy duty plastic, and it locks closed so that it takes up less space in your range bag.

With my gun purchase pending I jumped on Amazon and ordered this cleaning kit. I chose it because it seemed to have everything I might need for an expanding pistol collection (As you have read I purchased a 9mm & I hope to have a plinking weapon & CCW, maybe .40 S&W or .45 ACP, some day) and was nice and compact. Well, since this purchase my cleaning kit had doubled in size. I added a nylon brush and a brass one, a few kinds of cleaners (including one that is synthetic-safe, to protect my rubber grips) extra patches and a pair of old socks.Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

When I picked up my new baby from the shop the guys handed it to me and said, "...and if you want to learn how to clean it, look it up on YouTube." And that's exactly what I went home to do. The day I brought my gun home I cleaned it, twice. The first cleaning took two hours. I have gotten a little quicker since then, but it's still a messy chore.

Shopping for my first gun

During my conversations with the G.R.I.P. class ladies, one of the reoccurring questions was, "what kind of gun should I buy?" After all, it was only a month ago that I was wondering the same; And every time I did, I received a different answer. Everyone wanted to sell me on their favorite brand, caliber and so on, but in the end, I had to come to my own conclusions.

Here is the process I went through. It lead me to a weapon I love so much, I might wax poetic about it (or just post on a blog.) However, I'll reveal my decision later.

"Get a G.R.I.P. Ladies"

Women Pulling the Trigger - Wallstreet Journal - Novemeber 2011

The secret is out: We ladies have entered the gun world, and we're inviting our friends.  This isn't a brand new concept, we've been taking classes and winning competitions for years; But the media makes it seem as though we've all started standing up to pee.
Shooting is a fun sport, it's not hard or expensive to try and guns have the added benefit of helping women take responsibility for their own protection.  So why wouldn't we  shoot?  (Because we lack a penis? No, that's why we sit down...)  Actually, its been said that without the distraction of testosterone pumping through us, women are able to be calmer, more accurate shooters.
What is news, is the fact that the male-dominated gun community is just beginning to take notice.  The marketing machine is probably getting a jump start as you read this, and it is about to begin spewing “feminine gun products” at us left and right.  While I will continue to help you sort through those items, today I focus on the heart of the matter:
Woman are serious about guns and shooting.
