Buy a Gun, Learn to Shoot!

I am overwhelmingly concerned with what happens after a new shooter buys their first gun. More and more people are going gun shopping now a days but with less concern for the next step. This issue is on my mind every time I am asked, "What gun should I buy first?"

Even people who have asked me many times about gun safety issues, when they begin shopping for a gun, they seem to forget that one can't read a book to become a proficient shooter. They also seem to forget that keeping a gun in a nightstand, will not keep their home safe.

I realize that those who feel strongest about defending our second amendment rights, don't want training requirements put on gun ownership, but people who don't train with their guns just plain, scare me! Is there no way to have a balance here?
