A while back I posted an article entitled,
"Why Jews Hate Guns". My concern in posting the piece was that it might inspire anti-semitism by pro-gunners who didn't realize that the article was really about anti-gun folks in general. Being a Jewish girl gunner myself I could have been offended, but since I grew up in New York City, I knew why the writer chose the title. Yes, the whole city inspires an anti-gun mentality, but I'm not sure it's a "Jewish" thing, and here's why.

Last week I had the pleasure of acting as RSO* to an FIDF* event called,
The Women's Brigade.
Most of the attendees were first time visitors to SSGR and chose to attend the event out of support for the Israel Defense Forces and curiosity about shooting. After a short explanation of the safety rules and the mechanics of two types of .22 caliber guns. We headed into the range.
No one ran from the range in fear and no tears were shed. In fact, most of the women didn't want to stop shooting. I lost count of the surprised look and comment, "This is so much fun!"

Many of the ladies asked about classes and ladies day, and I fully expect to see them return soon. Obviously, I enjoy inspiring women to try shooting, but it gave me an extra warm feeling to be able to share my hobby with Jewish women who supposedly, "hate guns".

FIDF is committed to providing these soldiers with love, support, and care in an effort to ease the burden they carry on behalf of the Jewish community worldwide." - FIDF - Atlanta region FaceBook Page
