AR Build Diary
By Gabby
I didn't set out to build myself an AR-15. I fell into it, accidentally... (That's my story & I'm sticking to it!)So as I began to collect parts, I had no idea what I was doing. Here are my realizations and lessons learned, as they occurred:

22 TCM from Armscor - A whole new old round
By C-Mag
The new 22 TCM round from Armscor, makers of the Rock Island line of 1911s, was introduced at the SHOTShow and I am very excited about it. I had the opportunity to shoot this round through two completely different weapons platforms and was thoroughly impressed. My goal at SHOTShow was to find guns and accessories that will help bring new shooters (especially women) into the shooting sports world. I think the 22 TCM round and the pistol designed to fire it, could be a great firearm shooters.1/28/2013
Outside-the-box Gun Designing & The MPX
By Gabby
We shouldn't write off New York or California or states like these. Many of those living there, do not agree with the law makers of their states and need our help to either, convince the rest or design something to help them follow the new laws without infringing on their shooting. Some of the coolest things I saw at SHOT Show® were designs built around restrictions.
I'll give you an example:

My New Gun
By Dana
Why a new gun? Isn’t Walther good enough? No worries, I don’t plan on getting rid of Walther. He was my first firearm ever and will always hold a special place in my heart. The thing is I really want to take more training and noticed that the places or the people providing the training that I’ve been considering require that I have at least a 9mm or .38 Special. Some of the training facilities said that I could rent “equipment” but to me it makes more sense to train with something I own.1/24/2013
SHOT2013: Looper Brands
By Gabby
In preparation for SHOTShow I spoke to many people who said something like, "just be ready for the good-ol-boy network that is, the gun world." So you can imagine how thrilled I was that one of the first faces I saw was the bright and smiley Lisa Looper of Flashbang holster fame. I was cautiously optimistic to speak with her since my review of her product a while back, was less than stellar.

Gun people = Nicest people
My name is Tommy C. and I am a Lt/PIO for the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office in Alexandria LA. I am also the Secretary/Treasurer for the Louisiana Tactical Police Officers Association.
I just wanted to say thank you to Gabby for her assistance in holding a tram door for me in Las Vegas airport. I am in a wheel chair and the doors we trying to close as my wife and I were trying to board it for our connecting flight. I didn't get to say thanks. She was also very helpful to the other passengers on the plane, assisting in stowing their luggage.

Apology from SHOTShow
I must apologize. I was at SHOTShow seeing, learning and partaking with one goal: bring the information back to you asap! Social media affords you the wonderful ability of following my adventures, almost in real time, seeing and learning too. I love that aspect of blogging and micro-blogging and that is why I do it. The truth is, as I travel through SHOT, I am posting about half as much Facebook and Twitter content, as I would like. I hope you will forgive me for this, as the reason is rather upsetting to us bloggers.
Over the past few months there has been an extensive amount of girl-on-gun-girl-crime. Most of this has come in the form of content-theft and has been perpetrated by one Woman within our community. Generally, we gun-bloggers feel that it is mutually beneficial to work together and build each other up. Unfortunately, this individual disagrees. She has stolen images, text, ideas and more, and burned many bridges in the process. As bloggers and small businesses, we have only one recourse. Copyright and watermark everything! As owners of our own original content, all we have is our ideas and our creative endeavors, so with a thief in our midsts we must protect our assists. It's not out of vanity, but necessity.
In short, every image I snap, must receive my watermark, before it is sent out into social realm. This takes multiple apps and *sigh* time. I'd prefer to post directly and often, but this is how it has to be. I hope you can forgive me, as well as help us stay vigilant.
Thanks, Gabby ArmedCandy.net |

"I also just casually bumped into ArmedCandy. I felt like a fan girl. Honestly there are a handful of bloggers that were a huge help in keeping me in shooting. After the shooting in Washington I was scared and knew I wanted to be able to protect us but the .40 hubby bought me was just not a good gun for me. ArmedCandy was one of the blogs that I read that helped inspire me to not give up, so meeting her in person was pretty amazing."

What is this, "SHOT Show®"?
By Gabby & C-Mag
Lately, you may have heard folks at the range or gun store say to one another, "will you be at SHOT?" or "see you at SHOT!" You may have even had your shooting lesson canceled due to "SHOTShow" and felt confused and frustrated.
You might be thinking, What is this "SHOTShow"? And what's the big deal anyway?

Welcome Contributor: "C-Mag"
By "C-Mag"
Hello ArmedCandy readers. I am proud to be the newest member of the ArmedCandy team and hope that you will enjoy my posts as both informative and entertaining. Read my bio to learn a little more about me, but know that I take shooting and shooter-rights very seriously. As a Range Safety Office at my local gun club, I interface with many new shooters and get to share their first shooting experinces. I do my best to make them comfortable with handling firearms and try to make shooting an activity they will want to repeat. Female, new shooters have impressed me with their willingness to take direction and ability to learn a bit faster then the guys. I have also noticed that a women's first shot is more often aimed at the head, while men tend to aim for the heart. I don't know what that says about the differences between men and women, but I have found it a bit alarming entertaining.
